The lone stamper
I got this card made last night. I got the paper together, the bird colored, the ribbon out and then I sat there. I must have struggled with the placement of things on this card for 25 minutes. It's still not my fave layout, but it works.
I figured out that this is a Tuft Titmouse bird thanks to Jovita! You are a lifesaver girl! I don't know much about birds and I had no idea what color these really were.
- Things of Nature, Sweet Sayings stamp sets (TAC)
- MME Everyday Tango paper
- black CS
- watercolor paper and aqua painter
- Black Stazon, Bashful Blue, Brilliant Blue, Creamy Caramel, Mellow Moss classic ink
- Ribbon, brads, pop dots
For those of you who don't know me that well, I don't have any friends {sighs}. I have 5 sisters who are my best friends but still, they are sisters. And I have cousins and Aunts of Joe's that are great friends, but there again, they are relatives. My one true non-related friend is Heather who lives an hour away and has a brand new baby girl and also has a job as a baby nurse. She doesn't have time to come stamp with me!! So, here we are, back to square one, me with zero friends. I have tried to make friends with people and was even voted friendliest in my class in HS but I don't know if it has worn off or I am just too talkative for most or what. It's also hard to find someone my age (24) that has kids and is into stamping. I don't mind at all actually if they are my age. I get along with people older than myself perfectly. Actually, it seems to be people my age that I can't bond with. I think I know where I am in life. I have 3 kids, I am homeschooling, I'm happy that I can stay at home with my kids and that be my job every day. A lot of women (or girls, depending) my age are fresh out of college and still go out every weekend with friends or boyfriends. If I can't talk about my kids to someone, I pretty much don't have anything to talk about! And those of you with kids know exactly what I am talking about! I keep telling Joe's best friends to hurry up and get married so I can have someone to hang out with, even though I have a feeling they might be the complete opposite of me. Who knows!?!
Alright, I'm done whining now. Off to stamp......by myself.

I totally get what you mean about friends not having friends and not having as much to talk about. I also have 3 kids. If I lived closer I would come stamp with you.
{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you Heidi! I'm sorry you are so sad today! I don't have lots of friends either. I do, however, have a stamping buddy that I try and get together with once a week. We are partners in crime, so to speak. But I really long for that one super close friend with whom you can share ANYTHING, and whom would be there for me at a drop of a hat. I did have a best friend for a number of years, but we have since "parted ways" due to many issues. I still miss her so much. She was like a sister. Be thankful you have sisters, I don't have any, only brothers. And I have a houseful of boys, so no one to "girltalk" with on that front either. Even my dog is a boy. Ugh. Hang in there Heidi, that special friend WILL come along someday, I know it will!
Amy
Wanted to give you a little hug. I had the same friends from kindergarten through the end of high school... I moved away with my husband when I was 20 and had my "work friends" but no one I socialized with. No good girlfriends. Then we moved again, had two kids.... and I finally made some good girlfriends when my youngest (now 10) started kindergarten. It took time, but it was worth it.
The good news is, I got them all into stamping.
The bad news is that we're often too busy to get together but at least I know they're there if I need them!
I can sorta see how youre feeling. I do not have children yet but I just moved to a different area and all my old friends back home do not stamp and I cant really make any new friends here :( But...stamping alone can be fun. We get to use all the supplies when we want ;)
Hi Heidi! It looks like there are several of us here who long for a close friend. I'm actually in the opposite position as you since I have no kids or husband and all my friends do! I have friends who come over to stamp, but they're both much older than I am so I don't feel like they're my "soul sisters". Too bad we can't organize some kind of system to get kindred stampers together! I'd love to have an artistic mentor from my town to inspire me.
Take care and God bless you as you homeschool your kids! I really respect women who do that.
First of all - great card! Love the color! Second, I'm sure there are a ton of us who can totally relate to your lone stamping! I have friends and customers that stamp (although none quite as obsessively as I do!), but having 3 (almost 4) children myself, makes it almost impossible to get with anyone on a regular basis! It is tough, that's one reason I love blogging now, I feel like I have tons of new friends - even though you are not here physically, we're all here in spirit!! Happy stamping Heidi!
Heidi, I have the perfect solution!
Just move to TEXAS!! I can personally guarantee you AT LEAST 10 friends who are your age, have kids your kids' age, and share your hobbies!
Plus we have 10 months of summertime weather. Can't be that :o)
